In fact, one of Costa Rica’s national dishes is the Casado or married man. It simply pairs a protein such as chicken, beef, or fish with a bunch of the side dishes described below. Step 1. Add the beans, onion, scallion, red bell pepper, Salsa Lizano and 5 cups of water to a large pot and bring to a boil. Once boiling reduce heat and let simmer for roughly 1 hour, stirring Kue pancong, coconut hotcakes sprinkled with cristal sugar granules. The batter is made from the mixture of rice flour, grated ripe coconut, granulated crystal sugar, salt, coconut milk, pandan leaves (optional for aroma), water, vegetable oil or margarine to grease the mold pan. [3] Granules of crystal sugar were sprinkled as the topping.In a preheated dutch oven or heavy pot over low-to-medium heat, combine olive oil, garlic, beef cubes, and onions, stir until beef is brown on all sides and onions begin to caramelize. Add in chopped pepper, cilantro, salt, pepper, and 1 quart of beef stock. Cook down until stock is reduced by half about 20 minutes.

Instructions. Combine masa and cheese in a large mixing bowl. Mix together until well integrated. Slowly add in the water (1/2 cup at a time) while stirring the cheese and masa mixture. Once combined, take 1″ balls of the mixture and roll them out into a strip. It’s just like playing playdough when you were a kid!
